So i saw Invictus yesterday, that new rugby movie. First of all the theater was packed so that already pissed me off before the movie even started; and for some odd reason it was filled with people over the age of 45 so i instantly felt out of place.
The movie finally started and to my surprise, Morgan Freeman is playing Nelson Mandela
(Side note: Why the fuck does Morgan Freeman always get the god-like roles? The guy fucking played god in bruce almighty, nelson mandela, he narrated march of the penguins, lucius fox in batman, Ellis Boyd in shawshank redemption, and the list goes on)
Anyway the movie took way too long to get into the rugby portion. It was really focused on the political standings in South Africa, and quite frankly I just wanted to see Matt Damon wreck some brits on the rugby field. The ending was good, and it made the slow start kind of make sense. For some reason, the cleaning lady had such an asshole face, i couldn’t stand it, she made me want to strangle a baby deer.
Verdict: go see this when its playing on TV and you’re sitting at home with nothing better to do than go on Tumblr.
Aw man! I really wanted to see that. I just learned about all that in history and I thought it was going to be interesting, was it at least informative?
It was a good movie, don’t let my bitterness make you think otherwise I just really thought it was going to be more rugby-centric, when it wasn’t until the end. It was a great movie and if you wanna learn about South Africa’s political crisis during the nineties than this is really illustrative, especially with Morgan Freeman playing a sick Nelson Mandela.
