3 things i don’t understand about the public and motion pictures.

bittenbysharks:

  1. why is Quentin Tarantino so heavily revered, when people like Gus Van Sant and Jim Jarmusch get overlooked by the public? It makes no sense.
  2. what is so unbelievably stunning about Wall-E, that it wins Academy Awards and gets put on best movies of the decade lists? there is a point where you have to be fucking kidding me.
  3. why isn’t bill murray getting big roles, left and right?

Answers:

1: You have to shake the core of the film industry to be revered. Example: Tarantino did this with Pulp Fiction. James Cameron did this with Titanic, Stephen Spielberg did this with Jaws, etc.

2. Wall-E was held with such high regard because it portrayed a very serious message about society all with very minimal dialogue. Not to mention the visuals were a milestone for animated films.

3. thee words: The Life Aquatic.
