  1. why is Quentin Tarantino so heavily revered, when people like Gus Van Sant and Jim Jarmusch get overlooked by the public? It makes no sense.
  2. what is so unbelievably stunning about Wall-E, that it wins Academy Awards and gets put on best movies of the decade lists? there is a point where you have to be fucking kidding me.
  3. why isn’t bill murray getting big roles, left and right?

Answers:

1: You have to shake the core of the film industry to be revered. Example: Tarantino did this with Pulp Fiction. James Cameron did this with Titanic, Stephen Spielberg did this with Jaws, etc.

2. Wall-E was held with such high regard because it portrayed a very serious message about society all with very minimal dialogue. Not to mention the visuals were a milestone for animated films.

3. thee words: The Life Aquatic.

Retorts:

  1. putting tarantino on the same level with James Cameron and Spielberg is ridiculous and you know that. HE got best original screenplay at Cannes with Pulp Fiction which was a real success. But Van Sant made fucking Good Will Hunting so think about that. He also did Milk and Elephant which tackled real issues and all of those films “shook” the film industry. Tarantino gets revered because he’s the cool kid in the high school that is public opinion. Even think about Fernando Meirelles, he made City Of God. A film that really only the film industry gives man respects to because it “shook” them by stripping romanticism out of movies about crime and making it very real. So I guess I was really trying to say why do all these teenage film goers suck Tarantino’s dick.
  2. Wall-E was too esteemed. It was put into categories at festivals and events with films that contained lots of dialogue and real actors. Also Finding Nemo was a true visual milestone that Wall-E barely surpassed, even though the animation had years to improve. But the real question is still why so much entitlement for a film like this. Animated films with no dialogue have presented just as serious social commentary as Wall-E did.
  3. “The Life Aquatic” is an extremely enriched comedic experience. Wes Anderson took a leap from his normal satirical comedy about upper class society and made a film that a normal audience and the industry both applauded. It’s one of the few films that escapes the comedy that people like Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen (who i i both enjoy btw) are making popular in this generation. It was different. It achieved success. Mr.Murray blew some people the fuck away, as always.

You can talk all day why the public doesn’t like things of quality, but through the publics eye, everything I said is valid. Milk impacted the film industry in terms of content, whereas movies like Pulp Fiction are a breath of fresh air in terms of style. You can argue this with any entertainment medium, you turn on the radio recently? Why are jackasses like T-Pain, Akon, Flo-Rida getting all this respect when they know that they produce garbage. The general public has no interest in movies like Milk, The Life Aquatic, or anything that requires some introspect and thought. I didn’t respond to you with my opinions, I responded with facts about society.
